How to setup NetMeeting
3.01, Log into an Internet Locator Server (ILS), and show
up in the NetMeetingHQ ILS Scanner.
These are by far the
3 number one questions we receive in email so we hope this
page answers all of those questions. If this page does not
answer those question please let us know so that we can address
them. Thank you for your support!
The very first thing
you need to do is open up NetMeeting 3.01. If you do not have
NetMeeting 3.01 you can download it from our Downloads section
of this website. Once you have it open a window very much
like the one below should appear.
Now you will want
to open your 'Options' window by Clicking 'Tools'
and then selecting 'Options'.
Now that your 'Options'
window is open you can start editing your information. Below
is an example of the options window.
|
First name:
|
This
field can be used to describe who you are. When you call
another NetMeeting user you will see 'Incoming call from
Greg MWM 31' where 'Greg' is the first name and 'MWM 31'
is the last name.
The abbreviations
will help to determine if the individual is someone you
would like to talk to.
|
|
Last name:
|
If
you are using NetMeeting alone you could use this field
to tell others a little bit about your self by using
abbreviations.
If you are a couple, you
could include the first name for your partner along
with the abbreviations.
First name: Lisa MWF
Last name: Greg MWM
|
|
E-Mail address:
|
This
is the unique name that identifies your computer on the
Internet Locator Server (ILS). If your e-mail address
is support@netmeetinghq.com and you are logged on to ils.netmeetinghq.com,
your computer's address will be ils.netmeetinghq.com/support@netmeetinghq.com.
You should use a real e-mail address and if you do not
wish to use your personal email address we recommend that
you create a HotMail account.
|
|
Location:
|
You
should list the location from which you are calling. You
can use a City and/or State in this field
|
|
Comments:
|
In
the comments field you should let other individuals know
what you are looking for.
Common comments: Cam Only,
Testing, Business Only, Friends and Family Only, and
Clean Chat.
|
|
Directory
Settings:
|
The
'Directory' field is the place to indicate which ILS server
you would like to use to list your information.
In the example above we used 'ils.netmeetinghq.com' but
you can use any server that NetMeetingHQ monitors
in this field
to be listed in NetMeetingHQ's ILS Scanner.
|
Now, the last step
is to log into the Internet Locator Server (ILS). If you make
changes to your 'Directory Settings' and you are currently
not logged into a directory server you may see the following
window after pressing the 'OK' button on the 'Options'
screen:
By pressing 'Yes'
you will then be logged into the directory server (ILS).
If you do not see
this window you may need to manually log into the directory
server by Clicking 'Call' and then selecting 'Log
On to <the directory server you indicated in the Directory
Settings>'.
|
This
should have you logged on to an Internet Locator Server
(ILS). Remember to use an ILS that NetMeetingHQ currently monitors and
you will also show up in NetMeetingHQ's ILS Scanner.
